Team Policies, Rules, and Expectations

Attendance Policy

All dancers agree to attend all scheduled rehearsals during the season and will contact the coaches in advance with any conflicts. For competition teams, dancers must maintain an 85% rehearsal attendance rate to be eligible for competition.

  • Rehearsal begins promptly at the set rehearsal time (for example, 4:00 pm.) Dancers are expected to be warmed up, in dance shoes, and ready to start on time. Warm-ups will be led by Captains 10 minutes before rehearsal starts (for example, 3:50 pm.)
  • Tardiness affects attendance. You are considered tardy if you are not warmed-up and ready to start when rehearsal begins.
  • Except for emergencies or extenuating circumstances, no absence will be excused without a minimum 24-hour notice.

Attendance points

For competition teams, to be eligible for performances and to maintain competition spots, dancers must maintain an 85% or higher attendance rate. If at any point, they fall below the 85%—their alternate will step in until they are at or above 85% attendance again.

Percentages are calculated as follows:

  • Attendance of an entire class gets full points.
  • Previously scheduled and approved conflicts result in full loss of points.
  • Late arrival or early departure will result in 50% attendance points.
  • Last minute conflicts, illness, or any other missed class with less than 24 hours notice and not approved will result in complete loss of attendance points and cannot be made up.

Points may be made up in studio with another team member before or after class, or on any other day the studio is not in use.

Points cannot be made up for last minute or non-approved conflicts.

  • To recoup attendance points dancers must submit a short video of the footwork they reviewed.

Conflicts

We understand that dancers may have occasional conflicts. We also understand that sometimes life happens and that on a rare occasion, dancers may need to miss.

  • The coaches reserve the right to remove a dancer from a routine if they miss rehearsal for any reason.
  • Dancers are not allowed to have any conflicts 2 weeks before any performance or competition, or they agree to forfeit their performance spot(s).
  • Conflicts submitted in advance may or may not be approved by the directors. It will be looked at on a case-by-case scenario.
